Plutocracy: A government or state in which the wealthy class rules.

OR

A class or group ruling, or exercising power or influence, by virtue of its wealth.

Under current election law in the US, America is more of a plutocracy than a democracy. Under current law corporations are treated as human beings and therefore are able to donate as much money as they please to politicians and political groups. This is essentially legal bribery. Corporations give millions to the political campaigns of congressmen, senators, representatives and even presidents in return for favours such as tax reductions and deregulation. Government isn't owned, run or controlled by the people it is bought through millions of dollars by corporations. The US government is run by the rich and this explains its right wing, anti tax, anti regulation, ecologically irresponsible and classist policies.
